TOM'S BWO

Materials:
- Hook: Size 14 Dry fly
- Thread: 210 Denier Flo Orange
- Body: Black Dubbing
- Hackle: Starling
First, put a pretty big thread base on your hook, and then wrap it back 1/3rd way back.
Then put Dubbing on the thread. Wrap it back almost all the way back leaving a little tag of tying thread.
Rib it with about 3-5 wraps with tying tread.
Tie in a starling feather tip first.
Wrap the feather, make a neat head, whip finish and you're done!
Here's the finished fly!

Thomas Snyder is 16 years old and lives in Shelburn, Indiana. He fishes in local lakes and ponds, and has been fly fishing for about 3 years. He bought a fly tying kit because his local fly shop closed up. He discovered FAOL and our readers have helped him learn new tying techniques and supplied him with material. This is his first submission to FAOL. |
