KILLER NYMPH
I cannot remember where I came across this nymph pattern, I remember using this pattern at the 1999 FAOL Black Hills Fish-In, when fishing Ditch Creek at some Rainbow Trout that were stocked up like cord wood in front of a tree that had fallen into the creek and diverted the water around the downed tree.
I do not remember the original pattern name for this nymph, yet this nymph pattern has never failed me in 14 years of fly fishing, so pardon me if I rename it "Killer Nymph"! It is a killer at catching just about any warm water or cold water fish.
I have always dressed the "Killer Nymph" using only white & orange ostrich herl, never having the need to dress this fly pattern in any other color combination. The size of the hook used is a matter of personal choice. The "Killer Nymph" is easy to dress.
I do not use weighted wire on the hook, instead I place a small non-lead slip shot weight 18-inches ahead of the fly on the tippet. ~Parnelli

Materials:
- Hook: Wet or Nymph, size your call.
- Thread: Orange.
- Tail: White ostrich herl tips.
- Abdomen: White ostrich herl.
- Thorax: Orange ostrich herl.
Step 1 - Dress the hook shank with thread,
Step 2 - Attach White ostrich herl tips, to the rear of the hook shank for the tail portion.
Step 3 - Attach White ostrich herl, in front of tail, on the hook shank and wrap ostrich herl forward 2/3 of the hook shank length.
Step 4 - Attach Orange ostrich herl, in front of White ostrich herl and wrap the hook shank remaining length of hook. Save space for head thread wrap and tying off.
That is it, there is no more! A simple nymph pattern, that is a killer for any freshwater or cold water fish. ~Parnelli
