Many months ago in the Chat Room here on FAOL Steve McGarthwaite, a.k.a. ParnelliMN and the rest
of the room were throwing ideas out on tying parachute flies. Many of them were quite good, but for
some reason this one stood out.
Many of us tie parachute flies. And many of us have problems with posting the wing as well as wrapping
the hackle. Somehow things just go limp with our post, or we get our third hand in the way.
Most major vice manufacturers of the upper end variety will be happy to see you a parachute
attachment for prices ranging to $30.00 or more.
Steve's idea is simple, easy, and mostly free! And boy, do we like free!

All you need do is attach a rubber band to your hackle plies and then to your tying lamp. Clamp the
post material in the hackle pliers and the rubber band keeps enough tension on the post to allow
easy wrapping.
Parachutes need not be difficult, and they can be fun. Not to mention effective!
Thanks Steve!
If you have any tips or techniques, send them along, most of this
material has been stolen from somebody, might as well steal your ideas
too!~ George E. Emanuel
