More Saving Time, continued
By AK Best

More from A.K. Bests', Advanced Fly Tying, chapter on Saving Time:

    16. Keep your tying bench clean. When you're finished tying a pattern, put everything away.

    17. Set goals! "Tonight I'm going to tie six #18 Adams" or, "Today I'm going to tie ten dozen #18 Adams." Stay at it until your've accomplished the goal. Then quit! If you're a commercial tyer, take a five-minute break every hour. It'll help keep you fresh.

    18. Spray all your turkey, goose, and duck quills with Krylon Workable Fixatif. It's a clear spray that dries quickly and holds the individual fibers of a quill segment together while you tie it onto the hook.

    19. Use a cork and a hat pin for head lacquer application. This combination is infinitely adjustable - and, most important, it isn't top heavy. ~ A. K. Best
