Tip for Catch and Recatch Hooks
By Deke Meyer

Since I am a catch-and-recatch fisherman, I disliked the large bump of steel remaining when you bend down the barb, and when compared to more modern, chemically-sharpened hooks, the hook-point area is too large in diameter. Using a Dremel Tool, I ground away the excess metal, then with a hook hone I gained a sharp point, which increased my hook-up rate considerably. I use the same technique on another popular bass hook that has no counterpart in modern, chemically-sharpened hooks, the Mustad 3366. ~ DM
