Strike Indicators
By Robert Robertson

Something rubs me the wrong way when a piece of yarn tied to a rubber band (strike indicator) costs nearly $1 a piece. I realized that I have most of the materials to make such a thing already in the house. You only need three things:

    1. Indicator material (yarn para-post works great but I also use egg yarn).

    2. A round rubber band (I used rubber washers from a faucet rebuild kit, but orthodontic rubber bands would work great, too).

    3. Something to lash the indicator to the rubber band (I used monofilament G thread).

I fold the indicator material several times and loop it to the rubber band with the monofilament. Then I coat the knot with cement. ~ Robbie Robertson, Arden, NC
