This is a quickie - Al Roberts is a merchant seaman,
and spends months at a time at sea - not able to
run down to the fly shop and pick up materials.
He does take a fly rod with him, and some tying
materials as well - but doesn't have room for all
the goodies he uses when home.
At the recent Central Oregon Fish-In he brought
some 'new' materials he is using. I'm sure you've
seen them too, but maybe not for the same use. The
material is Krenick Diamond Braid, and Al's winner
is the Peacock color which he does use on fly bodies
in place of Peacock herl.
It certainly works, looks great, and since the braid
comes on spools it is easy for Al to store as well.
