Not Fancy Bodkins
By Michael D. Hurley

After reading about making bodkins with needles, I felt the need to complain about the extreme perfectionism.

Cheapest and easiest is stick a needle backwards into the eraser end of a pencil. If the eraser is worn out, or if you're using a dowel, put the needle into your vise with about a quarter inch sticking out and tap the pencil/stick/old ballpoint onto the needle gently. Pretty? No. Functional as the best - certainly.

Time at the bench is time not on the water. ~ Michael D. Hurley
