Wide Body Nymphs
By Steven H. McGarthwaite

On some nymph patterns it is desired to have a wide-flat body in the thorax area of the nymph, especially on Stonefly patterns. This is an easy technique to master.

Secure the thread at the rear of the hook shank and wrap forward, to lay a base of thread on the hook.

Then take a suitable length of weighted wire and form it into a U-shape, with each half placed against the side of the hook shank (with the weight running under the hook shank).

Secure the wire to the hook shank by closely wrapping (thread-on-thread) to the rear of the hook shank.

Now you are ready to add the materials to make a wide-body nymph pattern.

If you have any questions, tips, or techniques; send them along. Someone else thought up most of this material before we did, they just forgot to tell anyone about it. Or else we just forgot about it, while learning something else. Let us share with each other, all the things we know! ~ Steven H. McGarthwaite ParnelliMN@aol.com (Chat Room AKA Parnelli)
