sense and is important, especially when tying those itsey bitsey flies (no see them's).

My tying tip for today is a very simple one, but one if not paid
attention to can result in inordinate amounts of grief! As part of your
tying kit you need a nail file. To facilitate many of the more
exacting techniques of fly tying you need reasonably long
thumbnails. To curl antennae, or thin out marabou to shape and length,
to accomplish tying in materials in an exact position you have to have
long thumbnails! If however there is even the smallest hangnail it will
snag your tying thread as you wind your tying thread onto your fly.
The result of this is a frustrating search for a nail file, possibly going so far as to dig
in your wife's purse, which can lead to problems far beyond the scope
of this tying tip!! So - buy a nail file, put it with your fly tying stuff,
and who knows, it could save your marriage! ~ ~B. C. Nick.
