Here's the recipe for The Orange Cookies. They are a
special favorite of mine, as they are exactly what my
Grandma always had waiting in the cookie jar for my
visits as a kid. My Grandma passed away when I was
pretty young so I didn't really understand what had
happened. The next time I went to visit my Grandparents,
the cookie jar was empty and I knew my Grandma wouldn't
be back. The recipe Grandma had disappeared long ago,
until my wife Vicki (VEE) searched one out and tweaked
it so the cookies tasted like Grandma's.
Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs on at
a time, and beat well. Add orange juice and mix. Blend
in dry ingredients. Drop onto a cookie sheet. Bake at
350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Orange Frosting:
6 Tbs. Butter
2 tsp. Grated Orange Peel
1 lb. bag confectioner's (powdered) sugar
2 Tbs. Orange Juice
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter and Orange peel, gradually add about half
of the sugar, blending well. Beat in orange juice and
vanilla. Add enough sugar to make a spreading consistancy.
Hope that makes sense to the baker in your house.
Peace, Good Health and Happiness from our house to yours,
~ REE and VEE
