Here's a tip from Volume 5 - Issue #1 issue of RodMaker magazine:
Get A Crisp Edge:
Getting a nice crisp edge to your finished guide wraps can be
difficult. I like to put a small piece of tape just off the edge
of each wrap and rely on it to give me a stright finish edge.
Don't use maskig tape as it will slightly absorb the finish at the
edges a bit. This will give you a ragged edge after it has been
removed. Instead use a plastic type tape that won't absorb any
epoxy. Such tapes are often found at automotive paint shops.
After you have put on the finish just remove the tape. There will
be a very small place where the tape overlapped where the finish
has easer out a bit. Just wipe it off with a paper towel soaked
with alcohol.
This method gives me a perfectly straight and crisp edge to my
finish that I have not been able to get with any other method.
