Here's a way to trim your guide wrapping ends below the surface,
so they don't show.
After cutting the thread, and pulling the tag end through, carefully slide the
business end of a single-edge-razor blade down the thread until it
contacts and cuts it below the wrappings.
This must be done very carefully, or you'll cut the wrapping next
to it, and you'll have to rewrap the guide. It makes a very clean
and invisible termination if done correctly. ~ Len Schattler
