From Volume 5 - Issue #1 issue of RodMaker magazine:
For that finishing touch on a custom rod you can have 2 decals for less
than 40 cents per rod.
I tried hand lettering with gold gel pens. They worked well enough.
However, when I found quality decal sheets for $5 each (min. of 10?)
with an average of 28 identical decals per sheet, I stopped using the
gel pens.
Give Margaret Whitson a call (941-549-9030, Bill-Mar Custom Rods)
and tell her what you have in mind. If she agrees, you can send
her computer-generated samples of what you want on each sheet.
I sent her 10 different (computer generated) decal designs to cover
the bass rods I build (for example "Revolver Rod" - my registered
trademark). Each decal was duplicated 27 times one sheet in
gold script.
You cut out the decal, lift it from the backing and place it on
the rod. Cover it with epoxy at the same time you cover the wraps.
You'll be singing about how easy, inexpensive and good-looking
quality decals are on your custom rods. ~ Rich Forhan
