Here's a tip from Volume 2, Issue #1 Issue of RodMaker magazine:
"Do you constantly have problems trying to measure blank length, or
guide placement? Trying to hold a measuring tape against the length
of a rod blank or using a yard stick to make these measurements
stinks! A few years ago I found a "stick-on" tape, much like the ones
used inside of the standard retractable measuring tapes, packaged for
use as a permanently mounted measuring device. The one I found was
8-feet in length.
For my own purposes, I ran the measuring strip along the edge of a
table and stuck it down, and can simply lie the rod/blank alongside
for quick and accurate measurements. If you don't have access to
a long table, you can just stick it in an up and down fashion along the
inside of an unused door jam. ~ James P. Fellan, Trenton, PA
