Here's a Reader Tip from the May/June 2000 issue of RodMaker magazine:
"One of the most overlooked by important facets of a custom rod is the final
inscription. This normally constitutes wither the owners name or the nomenclature
for line and lure weight. Sometimes both are added.
After the RodMaker articles on the various methos of making such inscriptions,
I tried each in turn and have decided that one stands out above all the others -
custom dry transfer letters. It is color-fast, inexpensive and gives the best
looking inscriptions of any of the various methods now in use, including
computer generated inscriptions.
I contact the outfit mentioned in the article (Colorworks, Charlotte, NC 704-568-9222)
and arranged to have three sheets of transfers done. One with my "logo," one with custom
lettering for making customer name inscriptions, and one with numbers and figures for
making the nomenclature for listing the rod's specs. They made negatives from which I
can have additional dry transfer sheets made at a moments notice, in any color under
the rainbow. My first 3 sheets cost me under $100 (negative was a slight bit extra)
and have provided me with inscriptions that look as good or ever much better than the
factory inscriptions! They should last about a year, and will handle about 200 inscriaptions
if need be. And unlike decals or computer generated inscriptions, there is no "edge" to deal
with. The inscriptions I make now look almost as if they are printed in the rod finish.!

these custom dry tranfer. They can be make in any color, style or size you wish and make
