Even if you are just test casting a new blank,
be sure to wax the male ferrule on all graphite
and fiberglass rods. The small white votive
candles sold in grocery stores work fine. Any excess
will be automatically removed when you assemble
the rod. It will help prevent ferrules from sticking,
and keeps them from coming apart while casting.
There is also a commercial product, U-40 Ferrule Lube,
produced by Trondak, which serves the same purpose.
