Here is a tip from Volume 2 - Issue #1 of RodMaker Magazine.
Before applying the epoxy for your tapered reamer, wrap the
length of the rod blank with 1/2" masking tape, leaving at least
an equal distance between tape wraps as the tape width itself.
After spreading the epoxy and grit, unwrap the tape before the
epoxy sets to allow space for the sanded material to move into
after it is cut away. This helps to provide space for the
removed material until it is brought out of either end.
Additionally, you can obtain the exact same cutting grit material
from your local shopping mall. Just ask the janitors for a small
bit of the materil they use in the asktrays. It is the very same
stuff! Each time I have done so, I was given about 2-pints of
material. No sense in paying for something that isn't necessary.
I have also asked my local casino for some and they gave me a whole
coin cup full. Since not everyone will have a local casino, I might
also suggest trying the local hotel industry as many of them also
use this material in their ashtrays. ~ Mal Mowbray
