Here's the current conditions as of July 2, 1999 Henry's Fork:

Coffee Pot The Brown Drakes are hatching in the Coffee Pot Rapids area, and the fish are feeding on them pretty consistently. Standard dries and nymphs work well the rest of the time.

Box Canyon The Salmonflies are all gone in the Box Canyon now. No major hatches through the box other than caddis. Fishing is good with #8-10 Rubberlegs and Kaufmann's stone nymphs. Big beadhead nymphs are also working well. There are a few Golden Stones throughout the canyon. Water flow out of Island Park Dam is about 850 cubic feet per second.

Last Chance-Railroad Ranch PMD's emerging late morning, starting at 10-11 AM, with more fish on them every day. We're seeing a fair number of Green Drakes starting about 11 AM to 12 PM, on cloudy, gray days. Good caddis hatches and Rusty Spinners in the evening, about 6 PM and later. The fish are really starting to feed consistently on the bugs.

From the confluence of Henry's Fork/Warm River down stream Golden Stones, Caddis, Green Drakes, Gray Drakes. Fishing is very good with standard dries, stimulators, and beadhead nymphs in the Ashton stretch. Below Ashton, fishing is excellent on the Gray Drakes. Unbelievable numbers of bugs with all the fish looking up for them. The spinner fall goes from about noon until dark falls. Parachute Adams, big dark soft hackles, and gray drake patterns work best. ~ Matt Lyon
