A NOTE FROM MARS BAY
Gentlemen and a few ladies,
The fall bone fishing season is here. It is the best time of the year for big bonefish. I promised some of you a reminder note before the fall calendar starts to fill. If you're considering a fall trip you'll need to start making arrangements.
I'm also getting inquiries well into next spring. There is still plenty of room on the spring calendar. Some of the best dates are still open. If you are planning on a spring trip drop me note and I'll hold your dates. If you are setting up your group trip and plan to reserve the entire lodge you'll need to let me know soon. I'll hold the slots and ask for spring deposits after the first of the year.
For those of you who haven't been down recently we have made a few changes at the lodge…..
The guides are no longer punching a clock. We're out early, before 8AM, and we fish late every day. The boats are in after 5PM….usually sixish. The days do get shorter during the fall. I'd like to see you at the dock no later than an hour before dark. The additional fishing time and shorter run south amount to an extra two days fishing on a six day trip compared to lodges north of us.
Each year we rescue boats from every lodge on South Andros. I can still say we have never had a motor break-down in ten years. I don't wait for something to break. A little preventative maintenance goes a long way. Regardless, all the skiffs will be equipped with new engines for the fall season.
As you know the accommodations at the lodge are quite nice; comfortable, clean and spotless. I have made some renovations; new couches, a few new pieces of furniture, a new fly tying table, a new counter top, and put down some fresh paint inside and out.
The menu hasn't changed much….fresh fish, lobster, and conch prepared several different ways, grilled rib-eye and lamb rack, and occasionally chicken. I have added pork loin and stone crab. Stone crab is dependent on my ability to get out and drop the traps.
I did revamp the website. There is a lot of new information. If you have additional questions drop me a note. I'm glad to help.
So….The lodge will open for the fall season in early Oct. Come down and do some fly fishing for bones. We'll have a cold drink and watch the world turn.
