In a lovely trout stream, just up past the bend, trout are rising. Last night,
big brown trout cruised the margins eating their fill.
Migrating gamefish are traveling south along the Atlantic coast to warmer water.
Pacific salmon are gathering off shore, waiting for the Fall rains to fill the
streams and signal time for their final upstream run. The eggs they
deposit in their redds will hatch and swim to sea.
The natural cycle of life will continue as it always has.
For you and me, our lives changed dramatically on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
It was not our choice. As the bumper sticker says, "I'd Rather Be Fishing," but
now we must face reality. Our country and way of life has been attacked.
There doesn't seem to be any question of what we must do. We need to stand
tall, shoulder to shoulder and take on this awful enemy. We are all being asked to
serve in some capacity, and we must support the efforts of our government. We
have done this before - and succeeded. The United States of America is the strongest
country in the world!
Make no mistake, the wrong shall fail, the right prevail.

And when it is over, there will be rising trout, spawning salmon and head-shaking
albies. Be of good heart, this too will pass. ~ LadyFisher
