Folks, I am going to try to make this as painless as
possible. Some of you are missing a lot of great
information on fly-fishing. The reason is, you don't
know it's there for you. and as easy as one little
click of your mousie.
To come onto FAOL and not look around the sponsors page is
like going into a fly shop with a sack over your head. The
links from the logo's are to pages we build right here,
sometimes they are the newest products, some not even launched
on the general market yet, often they have our personal thoughts
on these companies. These are good companies, if they weren't, they
wouldn't be on there. Let me give you a little summary of some
of them. Take a few minutes and see what you may have been missing.
Right now the Canadian Fly Fisher has a great subscription
offer going, Marryat has their new rods, reels vises (like
JC's) and other products featured. Justin Charles has some
darn nice cane rods from the UK, of course you know who DB
Dun is, great rod cases etc. JW Outfitters has those pontoon
boats and chest packs, check those out. You know what Ultrathon
is? Right, the new bug-repellant from 3M, works too. Seaguar
makes (like invented) fluorocarbon, need I say more? You want
a place to buy most of these things, then, how about Bob Marriots,
biggest fly shop almost anywhere, with a catalog over an inch
thick.
McKenzie is a great name in flies; tired of tying, or no time
to get them done? They work. Bonefish, Tarpon, gracious
surroundings, Stafford Creek is the place and the Smiths
are wonderful folks. Top class outfit, Andros Island can
be proud of their heritage. Climax is a name you have
known and respected for years, check out the new 'Poly'
leaders. What do you need to know about Redington? Plenty,
and you start right on that page. How about fishing the Florida
flats and learning at the same time, Doug's Academy will fill
the bill, without breaking the bank either.
There is the company Trout Traps, how many of your buddies
own one, many I would venture. Need a good book, what new
ones are available? A fine assortment will be found at the
Lyons Press, treat yourself, buy one. If the book is on rod
building, check out the Golden Witch site, all the components
you may need or a finished rod if that suits your taste. JC
has used guides from Snake Brand on his new eight weight, you
would too if you ever saw some of them. If a trip to Montana
is in store, why not check out the accommodations at the Bighorn
Trout Shop? Fine place to stay, great fishing and all the
accessories you can think of. If a new graphite rod is needed
with that trip, Dan Craft if one fine 'maker,'and very well
thought of in the trades.
Sage rods, Folstaff, EagleEye's Bonefish Lodge, Hook & Hackle,
Frank Amato, Flashabou. Well, I'm not going to go on with
this. Go there yourself. Click on each of the logo's, look at
each of the pages, and see what you have been missing. Neat
stuff, new stuff and just stuff. Lots of catalogs available
and many specials and sales going on right now.
From the pages on our site you will find a link direct to
each of the sponsor's web sites. We try to make it easy for
you to find out all the information you are after. Have a
good time - browse around, doesn't cost you a thing to look.
(And it's fun!) And the next time you buy something from
one of these sponsors, please let them know you are grateful
for their support of fly-fishing and FAOL.
Sponsors, who needs them? We all do. Thanks! ~ LadyFisher
