MEMORIES
Our Christmas Tree β 2009
Itβs Christmas time, a time of year that means many things to many people. Somewhere in the memory bank of most of us there are memories of all the Christmas days that have gone before. For some the reminders may be happiness mixed with sorrow as memories of Christmases past bring to mind those that have passed from the scene; fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, dear friends β loved one all. Gone but somehow never forgot at this time of the year.
It has been two years since I had a Christmas tree; the last one was a live pine that my late wife and I had in our home in Arizona. Little did I know then that it would be the last one that we would ever decorate together. We planted that tree in the front yard of our home in Arizona, a living memory of those most joyous days.
This Christmas I watched the Ladyfisher decorate our Christmas tree. I saw her smile as she took out the ornaments and reviewed in her mind the memories that went with each one. There were ornaments that had graced her grandmothers Christmas tree, carefully and loving preserved and cherish down through the years. As Christmas carols played softly in the background she spent the morning dressing the tree with all the memories of Christmases past, and perhaps just for a moment they were all alive again, if only in memory.
From our house to yours β may you make and share many Christmas memories this Christmas season.
