ANT IMITATIONS FROM THE WILD BUNCH
A couple of years ago I started playing around with wild colors for ants and a couple of colors that are very effective and will more than likely will shock you. Remember, the trout is the final judge in matters that pertain to color and effectiveness. Sometime it pays to try some wild things.
WB Pink Ant
- Hook: Dai-Riki#125 or TMC 101
- Sizes: 12-18
- Thread: 12/0 Black
- Body: Pink Dry Cell Foam
- Hackle: Black, dry fly, trimmed on the bottom
WB Red Ant
- Hook: Dai-Riki#125 or TMC 101
- Sizes: 12-18
- Thread: 12/0 Brown
- Body: Red Dry Cell Fly Foam, (Strike Indicator)
- Hackle: Brown, dry fly, trimmed off the bottom
WB Red & Black Ant
- Hook: Dai-Riki#125 or TMC 101
- Sizes: 12-18
- Thread: 12/0 Black
- Body: Red Dry Cell Foam, front colored black with a sharpie marker
- Hackle: Black, Dry Fly, trimmed off the bottom
As I stated earlier, these ants are easy to tie and effective. I have tied up some purple ants that I am going to try this summer.
