For Sale
|
It came as a shock to me the other day. I (J Castwell) am not famous. Now, that probably is of little interest to you, but it certainly is to me. Why, I can even name a few who are famous and I don't even know what they are famous for. And they are rich too. Sometimes very much so. And I'm getting sick of it, so I am 'for sale'.
Why not. Why, even in the fly fishing game (in which I am well entrenched) there are famous folks. Now, I don't want to increase their famousness, but we all know who they are. Right? Right.
So on with it I say. Sell out. Endorse. There is my battle cry from now on. Endorse and get rich real quick. Then, in the blink of an eye, endorse something else. Scruples? Ethics? "Yer kidding, right?" Like JR said in Dynasty, "Once you get past ethics, the rest is easy!"
Okay, out there, all you manufacturers, importers and widget makers, give old JC a call and sign him up. I ain't getting any younger and it's time to cash in. Let the money and 'big-times' roll... in. I see that I might be a bit tardy with this observation however, as a great gob of the nifty goodies already do have some whiz-bang guy touting them. But, I can always hope they will retire, switch products or get found out. Could happen.
Although I am willing to be a complete sell-out and give up any sense of dignity I may have acquired it does trouble me just a little as to how long should I give my precious name, reputation and good graces to a product before I dump them and promote the stuff made by their arch-enemy? Don't give me some moralistic garbage here, we have dispensed with that, "Just the facts, Mam, just the facts."
Is a month too short? I mean on the practical business side of this equation. I would not want to be seen as a 'flibberty-gibit' and jump around from one thing to another with no eye to the consequences (unless the money was really, really good!). After all, there are a lot of guys out there making big bucks and certainly 'good-old' JC should 'belly-up-to-the trough' with'em, so to speak.
I do not have any set fees at this time and actually will welcome any input about them. I feel that I should be worth plenty once the competition gets started for my endorsement (there's that lovely word again)(translates to 'money'), and with a bit of luck, lots of money. Like I said, since I am so darned popular and well loved world wide, why ain't I rich. Folks, we are about to fix that and soon.
The next time you see me I will be wearing fancy duds, driving one of several nice cars and be living the 'High-Hog' or what ever they call it. But, whatever it is, I'll be doing it.
Ya, right... ~ James Castwell
