I, make that, we, are flattered. The drum-beat continues
from the 'Major-Media.' The usual cadence describing the
Internet as a bunch of kooks and deviants. The drums, as
we all know, only supply noise, no true information. And
so it goes these days on NBC, CBS, ABC and many cable channels.
The 'Big-Boys' are scared as hell of those of us who are a
direct challenge to their established means of communication.
And they should be.
They are controlled by bottom-lines and considerations far
beyond my understanding. We, on the other hand, are not
controlled, we are led. Led by you and those who participate
in and on this web-site. Just plain folks whose backgrounds
are as divergent as all America and beyond, but with a single
idea; the kooky, deviant idea that somehow we should all try
to make the world a better place for fish and fishing. Pretty
subversive concept for some of those the 'Big Boys' to handle
I guess.
You [major-media] claim loudly to present the truth, and all
sides of it. The truth, all the truth and nothing but the truth;
oh yes, with some opinion occasionally. You know what? You have
no idea of what the truth is. You don't even live where the
truth exists. You couldn't handle the truth if you did accidently
stumble upon it. For instance, here is a piece of truth. We
[the Internet] are here to stay and that drives you nuts. See,
I told you you couldn't handle the truth. Here we are,
non-professionals, in our own non-professional way, putting
out the truth and honest, sincere opinion each and every day,
no bias, no hidden agenda and no hint of slander.
More specifically, there are the lead columns here on FAOL,
there are the constant postings on our Bulletin Board each
and every hour by concerned folks sharing and helping in our
goal. The unscrupulous idea of presenting information without
contamination or bias, wow! You can always tell a leader, he's
the one with the arrows in his back, and you guys still have
a quiver full of them, keep shooting guys, we can take it.
But, please don't squeal like a pig when we point out the
crap and lies on your media.
Lately a few of the major companies have run afoul of the law,
crooked bookkeeping I understand. I remember when you lauded
them as giants. You know their names, you should, you have
been promoting their wares for years. They are gone, we
[FAOL and the Internet] are still here, and will be for
a long time.
Your worst nightmare, the idea of actual information being
shared on the Internet seems to be catching on. People are
noticing it works, they read it, they like it, they find it
unique, refreshing, and you know what? New, that's what.
It is a new concept and they like it. And they want more.
So keep it up guys, keep those slings and arrows coming,
you're pointing the way for those who actually give a damn
to find real information, answers, honest opinion and just
plain, unvarnished fasts. I know this is a revolutionary
idea and 'sticks in yer craw,' but we are not going away
and in fact we're gaining more respect every the day.
