THE CHOCOLATE SUNSET

The Chocolate Sunset is one of my favourite flies for fishing through the late afternoon into the evening

Materials:

 

Chocolate sunset - FOTW - March 7 ,2011 Step 1.

Wrap hook Shank from eye to start of bend with tying thread

Tie in Tail Material

Catch in the Wing Material

Trim the excess wing material. Ensure the cut slopes to the rear

Tie down the wing material and start forming the body using the tying thread.

Build a neat body and finish in front of the wings

Build a small dam in front of the wings with thread and Post the wings Upright

Once the wings are Posted Split the material into two equal parts using figure of eight turns of thread. Once split. Take two turns of thread around the base of each wing and finish with a half hitch behind the wings

Once the wings are split, tie in the hackle with the dull side facing forward

Wrap the hackle forward with tight close turns three turns behind the wings and two or three turns in front of the wings and tie off

Tidy up the head area and form a neat head with the thread

Whip Finish the head and clip the thread

Trim the wings to size

Apply a dab of head cement.
