I'd fish the flats if there was time from living a sequel to "Driving Ms Daisy" since the casting elbow & shoulder seem to have finally healed. The mini-box is a Hatch Fly File from back in the 70's(?). With 10 subdividable drawers for up to 30 compartments along with 4 extra drawers. Years ago used to have a 10 minute walk to a mostly overgrown brushy creek where you could put a foot on both streambanks in places & do some bow & arrow or dappling casts to wary trout with sub 6' fly rods. When fly fishing didn't really need an assortment of #12, 14, 16 & 18's in a few nymphs, duns & spinners each with the Downs, Richardson or Fye boxes; it came in very handy.

    I now have a 3 tray Downs.
I think I will like it.

How many who have one use it OVER their regular vest v. the Downs only??
Really curious. I think I would like to wear my vest as I have a lot of non-fly stuff in it. Also nice on cold days.

Byron I have 2 Richardsons, an old 3 draw that got slightly crushed, and a 4 draw. I always wore them under my vest. Put them aside several years ago when I tried to lighten the load a bit. Although I am thinking about going back to the 4 draw. I have trouble packing light, always feel I'm missing something. Hope you enjoy your Downs box.

    Gene,
Under your regular vest? I was thinking of over the vest. But, haven't tried either method yet. Looking for advice.

Straps fit for me better under, this way I still had access to the inside pockets of my vest. By the way I never zip my vest. The only other time I didn't like the box was in a heavy rain. None of the raincoats were big enough to cover it.
