Just an idea on presentation, noting that I haven't done any spin fishing for a long time and don't intend to take it up again.
Trailing a PSC behind a spoon fished with a spinning gear might prove interesting - but crank it slow as you swing it across the creek. Depending on how slow the current is, you might have to go down to a very light spoon. Also, the pine squirrel does tend to float until it gets really soaked. A little saliva on it when you get started will minimize, if not eliminate, that problem.
