I've been thinking about this fly for several days now, and finally got a chance to do some tying today, in between glazing a new backyard greenhouse. I started out tying the abdomen with yellow dubbing. But I like Edge Bright better. It's not dead winter yet. I might still get to see which one the fish like best. Winter fishing usually means brigher is better. So I have a hunch this the one....
I went back to edit this post, in order to change the heading name to "Flash Belly nymph," but this forum software doesn't let you change the subject heading.
tails: gray partridge
abdomen: yellow-green Edge Bright overlayed with partridge
ribbing: brown Crystal Flash
thorax wing cover: black plastic somethingorother (would have used brown if I'd had it)
legs: CDC fibers fore and aft of the bead
thread: hot chartreuse 8/0
hook: #16 DaiRiki 280
bead: generic dark bead
