Actually, there are no trouts in the Black Hills. REE is correct, they are the most elusive, and very rare, Lakota Spotted Chubs. They do vary in color combinations, similar to the rainbows, brookies, and browns found elsewhere, so it is understandable how the confusion could happen. Pretty fish, I might add. Quite partial to the very tiny flies.
