Definitely a 7. I had a #24, which was the same rod with just fancier compoents, and it throws a lot of line. It's medium-action, tough as nails. Check the ferrules closely for splits, though, every so often. It's a good bass rod, as mentioned, and weighted with a heavier reel is a lot easier to manage for long periods.
