LoTech Joe: Yes I am still using the WaterSkeeter Poontube, fishing it every weekday, since I retired (leave the weekend for all the idiots). Fishing mostly warmwater lakes around my house in White Bear Lake MN. I get to fish these wonderful waters, while all the home owners are off at work. Great Bass and Panfishing, thanks to the Minnesota DNR Catch & Release Regualations.
I have built up my arnsenel of fly rods.... I even inheritated a few.....
Couple years ago in the Poontube on Bald Eagle Lake, I caught and released a 44-inch Tiger Muskie using a ancient South Bend Fiberglass8 weight - 2 peice fly rod that is beer bottle brown. I inheritated a old St Croix Fiberglass 8 wt that still has plenty of life left in it. I have a South Bend splitcane, with original agate stripping guide and snake guides for silk line (I bought a Cortland Sylk) for it and it also is again singing over the open water.
Lot of good Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass fishing in Minnesota, and the Norhtern Pikes are slowly coming back to the lakes after the Minnesota DNR placec a size limit on all Northerns. Depending on the body of water, they have to be longer than 30-inches or 40-inches, to be a keeper.
Crappie & Panfish limits have also have had a major overhaul, and there daily limit has been greatly reduced.
Minnesota is not Phosphate Free, no phosphate can be used in soaps, detergenents, fertilizers or anyother product if it has a chance to enter the public waters....
