Good tip Jonezee. That is usually how I get around places I do not know also, but I gotta tell ya, this area is unlike any place I had ever been. Unfortunately, in that area, you are always closely surrounded by tall trees. There isn't that much relief or topography to the area, so everything looks pretty much the same. During my little "expedition" last year, when I finally decided to turn back, I turned 180 degrees around and couldn't even make out the path on which I came! I walked back in the direction I thought I had came in on, trying to find topography or anything that seemed familiar, but nothing ever did. The trees become very disorienting, because you cannot see through them or over them. The ground is level by enlarge, so there are no real ridges to look for. I'm tellin ya, it looks far more benign than it really is, and you can really get in trouble if you aren't careful in that place. I have a lot more respect for it now than I did before.
