Opening sentence; "In a village in La Mancha, (whose name I don't recall) there lived, not very long ago, one of those gentlemen who keep a lance in the lance-rack, an ancient shield, a skinny old horse, and a fast greyhound."
Don Quixote becomes obsessed with books of chivalry. He eventually loses his mind from little sleep and food because of so much reading.
He dons a suit of armor and attacks windmills that he believes to be ferocious giants.
