Default striper report in Cape Cod

I am looking for a report on striper fishing near Sandwich. I have a cottage there next week and am fly fishing for stripers for the first time. Any hints on locations and flies would be much appreciated

Most people fishing the area were having to work for bass a bit this past week. Mf you're content with smaller ones, the mouth of Scorton Creek is a favorite place, as is most of the beachfront from there to the Cape Cod canal. A predawn walk along the beach to the end of Sandy neck is likely to be fun and productive.
Just a bit further west, there are some great flats in Barnstable and Brewster, but beware, tides are ~10' in this area, so don't get cut off from shore if you're wading. Most folks who fish there will have at least a kayak handy.

As to flies, the venerable Clouser in white/chartreuse, or white/chartreuse/olive is a standby.

Check out the area on topozone.com, google or somesuch using the names above. Post here if still unsure.

the bay side of the cape around wellfleet can be productive this time of year. Just keep a few things in mind. When there is a chop, or the water is rough, don't get nervous, the fish are less wary are can be found at your feet. If your fishing at night time, gurglers, poppers, or underwater flies that push alot of water are what works. The fish are trying to "feel" the fly, so it has to give off vibration to bring fish in from further away. Some other successful flies are olive and white clousers, CHARTREUSE AND WHITE CLOUSERS, capecod sandeels, and various sandeel and silverside patterns. Look for slicks in the water, nervous water, fish rising, misplaced structures, and odd currents.

    Good luck,

    Chris

Just a note about flies based upon my fishing this weekend in Rhode Island.

    5 fish - 2 keepers and 3 larger schoolies.

I used a 2 fly rig. Both the keepers hit a 3" Ray's fly that was the trailer. All three schoolies hit a 3" green and white clauser I had as the lead fly.

Coincidence??????? Not sure, but I'd have a Ray's fly handy if was yous.

I fished in CT this weekend and had success with a Chartreuse / White Clouser. Good sized Schoolies, but still Schoolies.

That I do. That Ray guy (not the HOF punter) is one of my favorite people.
