I run into the same problem at times. If those are the flat ones you peal off the paper try this. I place a drop of superglue where I'm going to attach the eye. I use a final needle point to gently pickup the eye and then place it. You can take the needle in a horizontal position to apply some pressure to the eye to make sure it sticks.
Thanks for your answer. The ones I have are not flat on the outside. I turn the fly 90 degrees (thank you rotary vice) put a drop of glue on the fly and try to get the eye on top. there is nothing that I have found to hold the eye. Sounds easy but it ain't. A needle won't stick in. where do you get yours ?
I stick my needle gently in the round side and place it.
Tie in a piece of clear nylon at the end of the body . form head, whip finish and put eyes on. wrap mono over eyes and whip finish.
I can think of few acts more selfish than refusing a vaccination.
I'm sort of confused. Could you post an illustration or photos.
Sorry, I can't do pictures. I tie in a spool of clear monofilament thread on a bobbin after I finish the fly but before forming the tapered head. Let the bobbin hang behind your vice. Form the head and put the eyes on using their sticky backing . Wrap the mono thread forward to the eyes and carefully trap them under the thread with several turns and then wrap to the eye of the hook and whip finish. I usually give the head a final coat of sally hansens after that. I use a spool of clear sewing thread. I can't remember where I saw this recommended, but I've done it and it works. I imagine you could do the same thing if you put the eyes on before the tapered head but I've never personally tried it.
