Default The Red Fin Shiner, a featherwing streamer from Jim Warner

This pattern was developed in the late 1950's by Jim Warner, a well-known Wolfeboro fly tyer and guide. He was considered one of the best streamer and tandem tyers of his time. I have done a whole series of his flies, his patterns are gorgeous and most were tied to fish specific areas of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

Hook: 8X long streamer, size 4
    Thread: Black
    Body: Flat gold tinsel
    Body hackle: Orange hackle
Underwing: White bucktail followed by peacock herl
    Throat: Orange hackle fibers
Wing: Two pairs of olive rooster saddle hackles
    Cheeks: Woodduck flank feathers
Eyes: Jungle fowl, you can always use painted eyes on the head or even stick-on eyes on the cheeks

I will post more of his streamers.

    Enjoy,

    Alberto

    Alberto,

Beautiful fly. The hackle, front and rear, looks like a mixture of orange and yellow; must be my computer.

My lighting is not the best, tends to saturate some colors. I'm working on improving this. I also took this photo with my Smartphone, a size 4, 8XL hook is a bit too big for my macro setup. This fly is almost 4" long. The hackle is just orange.
