Thread: Rabbit strips

    Default Rabbit strips

My one experience fishing a "one strip bunny"-clouser type pattern was a blast! Who might have insight on the availability of varied widths of rabbit strips? Recently I could find only magnum strips. Tying a fly required splitting the strip in half as best I was able.

Most anyone has smaller sizes. You can also use pine squirrel zonker strips, too, for smaller flies.

    Feather-craft also has thinner strips.

i use pine squirrel strips, both feather craft and j stockard carry them. they don't have the bulk that rabbit has, and they don't mat up like rabbit does. the strips them selves are very easily wrapped around the hook, palmered, and because they are a little less bulky, them don't leave you with a head the size of your thumb when you tie them down.

haven't tied a clouser style strip fly since the early ninties, may have to give them a try again.
