Alberto. I've used TMC 2488 for some of the more recent ones. I had a bunch of the Gamakatsu bone fish hooks in size 10, 8 and 6 and since going after bonefish isn't on my bucket list. I used them up tying the first batch up. I also used $1 packs of some Allen hooks I picked up at the Somerset show in January that resembled the Daiichi 1120. The larger ones I'm tying on size 4 and 2 stinger hooks. The guy who showed me how to tie the pattern was using jig hooks. I haven't tried them yet.
Philly, I've also done them on jig hooks using black and also silver jigheads. It has become one of my go to patterns both in fast and slow water. Not sure why it works, it just does.
I landed a 23" and lost a 25" rainbow at the net last month on the Copper in AK on a cream mop fly with a collar of loop-dubbed rabbit. Mop fingers move great in the water and I loved it as a small flesh fly. Too bad I only tied two...
4/5 largest rainbows and 3/5 largest char/dollies ate my flies rather than the beads the guides wanted me to fish. That was more than a little gratifying.
