I use the copper wire from lamp/electric cords that have broken. It might be a bit thicker than xs wire.
I don't put it on a bobbin.
Get good killer bugs from it and there is a lifetime supply.

Very nice ties gentlemen. I used some Brassie wire, the rotary function and have some sanity left!

@Bugsy: Thanks! it's a great fishing fly for faster water. Sinks better than normal softhackles.
@Alberto: yes, I like the technique a lot. It was Marc Petitjean who showed it to me many moons ago in Denmark.
