My wife had a pretty good scare a few years back with the similar concerns. Thankfully results came back negative (no cancer). A prayer has been said for Penny and you.

Reach out to the Lord for he is there with you and Penny. Lean on your faith and, Jim, lean on me. You are both in my prayers. Your kindness and emails have always brought a smile to my face. Since I am not there with you in body I send you a great big guy cyber hug. Both of you are in my prayers.
Lord, I beg thee to wrap your loving arms around our friends Jim and Penny. Comfort them in their struggle and please ease their suffering, oh merciful Lord. Please, oh Lord, ease their souls and minds with the knowledge that there is nothing that together with you, Lord, they cannot handle today or in the future.
