Scrambled eggs cut into strips, diced fried spam, chopped green onions, added to ramen pride soup. Fried spam, lettuce, and HELLMANs mayo sandwich, just had one couple days ago. Diced spam, fried green beans and onions added to scrambled eggs to make an omelet. My parents grew up in Hawaii during WWII, and I believe Hawaii is still the number one consumer per capita of SPAM because of the military. Although the kind of spam you get now doesn't have much of that jelly stuff in the can.

The military K or B ration version of SPAM came in a smaller olive drab can with the typical terse military description of product and ingredients. To my best recollection, it was referred to as "mystery meat" and had a special key opener similar to a P38 or P51 attached to the top. Later version of the opener was a tab roll-up key also attached to the top.

I was overseas in the Army 1968-70. We sometimes had to eat K Rations. ONLY thing good in the little boxes were two things: the can of fruit in juice; and the mini-pack of cigarettes.....I think there were either 4 or 6 cigarettes in a little box.

I now live in Hawaii, which eats more Spam per capita than anywhere in the US. A local favorite is Spam Musubi. A rice rectangle with Spam in the middle and wrapped with a thin sheet of furiakaki.

I think my dad spent too long on a destroyer with limited refrigeration. He refused to ever eat Spam again, even in hunting camp where we did have some canned chicken etc. My own feeling is that fresh meat is better and cheaper most of the time.
I can think of few acts more selfish than refusing a vaccination.

That sound more like C-rat than a K-ration. Some of the C-rats weren't that bad. The first MRE's were horrid, got got better over time. I only ate them at annual training in the National Guard, young guys who had been regular army taught us to mix the coffee creamer with the dehydrated fruit and water when you started and it would become pretty good at the end of the meal. Never got to where I like the dehydrated meat.

I have P-38 and a Schlitz church key on a key ring on my tying desk.

Not sure if it was "C" or "K", but it reminded me of "I don't like green eggs and ham" as the breakfast boxes had cans of scrambled eggs in the little cans which did seem like "green eggs and ham" as I recall.
Didn't anyone else serve in the 60"s and eat these rations????

"Ham and Eggs", which was small chunks of ham in a liquid mix of powdered egg, were still in the C ration mix. Note that C Rations packed in the mid-30s were still being issued in the late 70s.

    Ed and Jesse,
Did you eat them in the service?
