    Default Dyret

Dyret, meaning: the animal or the beast... Pattern created by Norwegian Gunnar Bingen. A very useful fly if you need a caddis for rough water. Daiichi 1180 #14, Whiting grizzle rooster, deer or elk hair that does not flare too much (here: Nature's Spirit early season cow elk hair), dubbing of choice and you're set to go!

    Martin,

Very cool fly; Hans did a video on it a while back and it looked like very buggy. I used them last week and had good luck on the Madison and a few other streams, more as a general attractor than a caddis imitation (the ones I had were a bit too big to match the 16's that came off in the evenings).

    Regards,
    Scott

I look at this and see a hopper.
Tightlines (the guys who did the resin/parachute thing) did a video on this awhile back.

Looks like a pretty cool and easy to tie fly, like a guide fly, maybe?

That looks like a very useful pattern. I bet it would skate well too.

The photo shows the fly in a LAW vise. Is the fly shown one you tied on a LAW, or one by Hans?
    Thanks

Those are both mine, Byron. Both the fly and the vise. Have had it for 13 yrs or so. One of the earlier ones with the really heavy base.
    Love it dearly.
