    Default Caribou Dub Caddis SBS

Instructions I've read for this fly call for the hair to be twisted onto heavily waxed thread and then dubbed, creating a very scraggy body; I've tried it a few times with mixed (mostly poor) results and ended up using half a caribou hide to get just a few hairs to stay on the thread. Decided to try a spun loop method instead; a lot easier to get the fibers to stay attached and wrapped.

    hook - Dai Riki 320 #14
    thread - UTC 70 tan
    abdomen - caribou
    underwing - CDC tan
    wing - deer hair
    head - dubbing tan

    Part 1

    mash barb, start thread

clean a clump of caribou hair and insert in clip

create a loop, insert caribou within the loop, spin to trap the fibers

wrap forward and tie off; trim some, pull some, keep it sparse, keep it scruffy

measure a pair of cdc feathers, tie in and trim
