    Default Angling in Spain?

Headed to Barcelona, next week and I have a couple of days were I can get away. Was thinking of renting a car and taking of into the Pyrennes. Any decent fishing opportunaties on the road from Barcelona to Zaragozza, mabye a little north or east of Zaragozza, or on the road to Madrid. Thanks.

Sorry, I hate myself when I do that. Actually, [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/eotg/eotg86.html:c6e28]http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/eotg/eotg86.html[/url:c6e28]

I'm under the impression that New Mexico is a fur piece from Spain, so maybe this will help your quest.

Catalona (sic?) is a very pretty part of Iberia...well worth the visit. I fished there once a few years ago, got skunked (but that happens here in the States quite often too), but I still had a nice day. Probably would have helped if I hadn't been too cheap to hire a guide.

Let us know how you do.

It's a wonderful day today! I woke up this morning "Good to go". So much to do, so little time.

Hi there, I was in Barcelona last year, I did not fish, but it is a fantastic city, I am sure you will have a good time.
There is certainly some trout fishing in Spain, the european fly fishing championships were held in Spain a couple of years ago so you may find something.
    All the best.

Thanks folks, I've got a couple ideas on where to fish, though I hear the permit system ranges from ridiculuous to sadistic. Guess it will come down to time on my hands and perseverence.

The Cimmaron aint bad either;> )!

    crcaddis:

Jaca in the Pyranees is about a 2 hour drive from Barcelona. This time of year there are some really good opportunities for wild brown trout. There are also some beautiful high mountain lakes that have crusing browns taking dry flies.

Mid July should be about perfect for run off etc. The permit fees are relatively high but the costs of lodging etc are really reasonable. In fact I think if you wanted to buy a villa in Jaca it is about $50,000 compared to something like a condo in Vail. You might stay a couple of days in Jaca and make up for the difference in your day permits.

If you fish the Aragon don't forget your black wooly buggers and leave the dry flies at home. I had to learn that lesson myself. After throwing dries for two weeks I blanked the Aragon by trying to throw dries there as well.
