That is why I have always cut my own meat. I am a meticulous tyrant in the field and hate finding ANY hair on my meat.

I will make a huge batch of moose jerky this time around... Great big chunks of round cut into thin slices make outstanding stuff...

BTW... The only hair packed out was on the head and I just skinned it today. The face hair is extremely nice gray/brown/black and very uniform length stuff that would be lighter than hock hair or selected out as one of the three colors.

I will dry it and see what is there. The leather is ridiculously thick and will take a long time to dry. It will likely require the band saw to cut it into chunks, but I should have a half-dozen or so nice big chunks. Anyone that has already posted on this thread gets first dibs.

By ridiculously thick I mean the hide is easily 1/2" thick!

No takers on moose face hair?

I just pressure-washed the skull yesterday to mount on a plaque. It is amazing what hot, high pressure water being run through a tiny nozzle will do...

Are you giving this hair away or selling it?

That is an exciting story. I enjoyed that very much. I read it twice. Unfortunately, I've only been able to dream about such excursions, as I have not had the means to do it myself. But i always enjoy reading your posts. Thanks for sharing it with us.
