A really nice looking fly, my first thought was it looked like the big boy version of the pine squirrel cheater. An specific species you are targeting with that? What are you trying to imitate?

It also looks a bit like the hammerhead fly by Capt. Roan Zumfelde. http://www.flyfishusa.com/flies/hammerhead-jerkbait.htm Great looking fly and it should work very well. Jim Smith
A buddy sent me a video for the fly, I believe the guy ties them for tarpon.
Looks like a variation on Jack Gartside's Tarpon Bunny. Is there anything under the tail to keep the rabbit strip from fouling the hook? Neat fly; bet it would be a killer in fresh and saltwater.

I usually put a piece of 20lb mono under the tail and glue the tail to the loop.
That should do it. I usually tie a section of a small plastic cable tie to the hook, poke a hole in the rabbit strip about an inch from the bend (varies, depending on the size of the hook), slide it onto the cable tie and then wrap it on the hook. Seems to do a pretty good job keeping the rabbit from fouling. Thanks again for the pics.
