Just got my tenkara rod and I can't wait to try it out! Hopefully the first trout I catch on it will be a big one!

Good luck and good fishing. I think you'll find that tenkara is fun even if you catch small trout (or smallmouth bass, or bluegills or just about anything else you happen to catch).
Tenkara Bum
I have no doubts that you will love tenkara fishing. It's been delightfully addictive for me. Thankfully it doesn't take a pile of paraphernalia and trinkets to do it. This way we can buy even more rods. Don't forget...the cast is 10 to 12:00 (I say 10 to 12:30) and keep your tip high on the end of the forward cast to get a perfect drift.

Thanks! I'm hopefully going to go fishing next week so I'll let y'all know how it goes!
I'm looking forward to your report. But I'm also interested to hear your impressions of the differences in the experience of Tenkara vs. western tackle. I don't have a Tenkara rod yet (soon, very soon) so I'm really interested in that experience.
Well I finally got to try it out on the 4th. Caught a couple of bows! I like it a lot because of it's slower pace and it's simplicity. It doesn't make me want to give up Western fly fishing by any means but I do enjoy it a lot. If your wanting to get a tenkara rod it's WELL worth it.
I was going to buy an AYU model this weekend. But between Tuesday when my 'local' (40 miles away) fly shop got their TenkaraUSA rods and Saturday they've sold out. Even the display model was sold.
It's obviously becoming a popular style of fly fishing.
I got a fountainhead 360 caddis fly. And it's really nice. You ought a just try one of those.
