    Many companies will actually roll a new section for you on the old mandrel. I have had one Sage custom come back with a complete blank meaning they didn't have a tip section to fit. I had to build a whole new rod for the guy. He was pleased with the results, though.

    I took my Sage RPL 8wt. out of the closet last summer two weeks before a trip to Alaska. The tip was broken and I don't even know how it happened. $50 and send in the rod. I did not get the old rod back and I think it took 6-8 weeks. I found a used RPL on this website, I believe, and had it before the trip.
